In this issue we are pleased to share with you COMMENTS FROM OUR AUDIENCE MEMBERS who attended our "Granpa & The Bear" concert on 19 June 2005.
Here are comments from some of the audience members:
I felt that the music was very special because this type of concert is quite rare. The atmosphere of the music was most thrilling: it painted the whole story in the audience's mind. I found the performance very vivid and interesting. The appearance of the percussion parts made every action in the story real. The voice of Valerie Chan was very sweet and engaging.

Fabulous. Very enjoyable. I want to see it a few times more! (comments from a five-year-old)
---------- Mr. Lam (Sha Tin)
The combination of different artistic performances was innovative. Quite inspirational for children.
---------- Mr. Lee (Sai Kung)
The young Emily (Dorothy Tang) was very young but was totally immersed in the performance. Her rapport with Granpa was perfect and constituted the soul of the whole story. At the end Granpa left, leaving Emily alone on the sofa. Her feelings were sung by the elder Emily. Very touching. Even my three-year-old granddaughter was moved to tears. It can thus be seen that the ability of the organizer largely determines the success of a performance.
---------- Ms. Ng (Yau Ma Tei)
I am very glad that the narration was done with a Hong-Kong-feel and in Hong-Kong-style language. This enabled the audience to concentrate more on thinking. The story was captivating. Rarely have children been engaged to sing, especially for solo parts. In these aspects this show was great. The children in the audience were very absorbed in the show, as it struck a special chord with them. The use of a whole orchestra to accompany the story-telling could help children appreciate orchestral performances. I personally consider this an excellent idea, as it helps the Hong Kong community to cultivate a refined taste. I hope I will have the chance to see similar performances. The "Make Believe Song" was very enjoyable.
---------- Ms. Wong (Wong Tai Sin)
Beautiful music, enjoyable stories and vivid narration. The CCOHK took children onto a magical music journey.
---------- Ms. Yip (Sha Tin)
Anyone who has attended performances by the CCOHK will never again say that classical music concerts are boring or bland!
---------- Mr. Lam (Sha Tin)
This was the first time I saw such a performance mode. It was refreshing. The programme offered both story-telling and beautiful music. A very good combination.
---------- Mrs. Wong (Discovery Bay)
Congratulations to these eight friends, who have each won TWO FREE TICKETS to one of our future concerts. We will be in touch with you soon! |
