In this issue we are pleased to share with you COMMENTS FROM OUR AUDIENCE MEMBERS who attended our "Classical Bliss" concert on 31 October 2005.
Here are comments from some of the audience members:
Although Julian Bliss was only fifteen, his performance was so natural and relaxed. His playing in both the high and low registers of the instrument was excellent. Coupled with the accompaniment provided by the CCOHK, the overall impression was most fluent. The melody was simple but it left a deep impression on me.
---------- Miss Tong (Sha Tin)
A young virtuoso is always enjoyable. This young man, Julian Bliss, has all the poise of a mature artist. His clarinet gave him the opportunity to explore the delicious low notes of the Mozart concerto. He also had a remarkable echo effect on some piano repeat phrases. I was spellbound.
---------- Ms. Gould (Hong Kong Island)
The programme which covered pieces of different styles was most enjoyable. It was fabulous and not boring at all. The highlight of the programme was the clarinet concerto. At times the clarinettist played together with the orchestra, at others he was engaged in dialogue with the orchestra. The dialogue consisted of whispers, mournful monologues, frank outpourings and lively exchanges. It was extremely moving. The conductor was also deeply immersed in the performance and was very energetic.
---------- Miss Tse (Tsuen Wan)
Lovely clarinet – entertaining orchestral pieces. Thank you!
---------- Miss Webb (Hong Kong Island)
Julian’s performance with the orchestra was brilliant and enlightening.
---------- Ms. Ng (North Point)
Beautiful interpretation of the Mozart. Lovely orchestra – heartwarming.
---------- Miss Simmons (Hong Kong Island)
Thoroughly enjoyable. The young Julian Bliss gave a performance of depth and energy.
---------- Mrs. Mead (Sai Kung)
Julian Bliss gave a fluent performance. His technique was refined.
---------- Miss Hau (Kowloon)
