COMMENTS FROM OUR AUDIENCE MEMBERS who attended
our "Scotland the Brave!" concert on 17 January 2006
Here are comments from some of the audience members:
Magnificent! Crossover performances of
orchestras with pipe bands are very rare. The entire audience was
treated to an enjoyable evening of music. The warm applause and
the shouts of “encore” stimulated every corner of the
concert hall. Very exciting!
---------- Miss Lau (Ma On Shan)
Amazing! Compositions were creative and
innovative.
---------- Mr. Wong (Lam Tin)
Excellent performance. A very rare and
superb occasion to enjoy Scottish folk music!
---------- Mr. Wong (Tai Koo Shing)
This was the first time I attended a live
performance featuring bagpipes – a very new and special experience
for me. The concert also featured the concertina – an instrument
which I very much looked forward to hearing too. During the concert
the entry of the pipe band was especially marvelous - I have never
been in such close contact with a pipe band before! All the performers
not only played well but interacted with the audience members, making
for a most exciting evening. I especially loved the combined sound
of the fiddle, flute, viola and harp. The music was exceptionally
rousing. I also appreciated the excellent rapport between the chamber
orchestra and the Whistlebinkies under the baton of David Gwilt.
---------- Miss Yao (Tai Koo Shing)
Excellent! Great repertoire and atmosphere.
---------- Miss Lau (Tseung Kwan O)
Awesome! The tears are still in my eyes
.…. This has been a truly inspiring concert. There is a mystical
lure to Scottish music, and this marvellous mix of traditional Scottish
instruments with Hong Kong’s own City Chamber Orchestra has
brought out the very best qualities in these beautiful haunting
music arrangements. Eddie McGuire’s compositions were gorgeous.
And best of all, I could tell all the performers enjoyed it too!
---------- Mrs. Forster (Clearwater Bay)
The overall programme was fluent, full
of variety and well co-ordinated. The audience members were treated
not only to the eclectic performances of the Whistlebinkies but
also to the delightful music of the bagpipe band and the chamber
orchestra. Professor Gwilt’s conducting made the overall performance
excellent. Fabulous!
---------- Mr. Law (Quarry Bay)
Congratulations to these seven friends, who have
each won TWO FREE TICKETS to one of our future concerts. We will
be in touch with you soon!
