Violinist, pianist and composer, Luca Ciarla is a versatile and eclectic artist adept at a wide range of styles including classical, jazz and folk. Born in Termoli in Italy, he studied violin under Antonio Salvatore and Mark Rush, piano under Michael Lucas and Jeff Haskell and improvisation and composition under David Baker. He holds a Master's degree in violin performance from Indiana University and a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from Arizona University in the USA. Luca has won several competitions at home and aboard. These include an award from Chamber Music America (New York) in 1999, culminating in an extensive American tour with Duo Medici. In 2003 he founded his own record label “Violipiano Records” and has recorded several CDs which have been broadcast all over the world. Luca is currently teaching violin at Saint Louis Music College in Rome and is the Artistic Director of several Festivals in Italy and abroad. To date he has performed in mainland China, Hong Kong, England, Italy, Mexico, Slovenia, Switzerland and the USA.
