Here are comments from some of the audience members on the "Cinema Amore Mio" concert:
An admirably professional orchestra. The guest artists gave a true meaning to the word "artist". The atmosphere was intimate and the audience exceptionally appreciative - an evening of complete immersion in the pure joy of music.
---------- Mr. Yung (Hong Kong Island)
Fantastic! I felt like I was in Italy, a wonderful place. Melodious, creative, sweet and full of vitality. I hope they return soon!
---------- Mr. Saffa (Hong Kong Island)
Fabulous!
---------- Mr. Zhou (Wan Chai)
I so enjoyed this imaginative concert. It was the perfect way to spend a really relaxing "feel-good" evening. The proof of your success is that a little four-year-old girl sitting behind me sat spellbound throughout - what higher accolade could one wish for!
---------- Ms. Senior (Lantau Island)
First-class performance!
---------- Mr. Feltracco (Happy Valley)
Movie music has always been underestimated as mood music of inferior artistic accomplishment. However, in tonight's concert, both a tasteful selection and arrangement of music, under the engaging and skillful playing of the soloists (I especially loved the jazzy fiddle, the mastering of the guitar and the principal cellist's playing!) together with the orchestra's soulful accompaniment proved that such a statement is unfounded!
---------- Mr. Lam (Tseung Kwan O)
Here are comments from some of the audience members on the "Viva Italia" concert:
This performance by the CCOHK was of the highest standard.
---------- Ms. Mok (Aberdeen)
The performance tonight was very refined.
---------- Ms. Lam (Mei Foo)
Last night was a beautiful evening. The performers gave a marvellous recital. The Verdi string quartet was especially fantastic. The performers, their instruments and the music blended with each other perfectly. The piece sounded as if four friends were chatting jovially with each other. I would like to offer my sincere thanks to Radio 4 for arranging this concert and to the CCOHK for giving the performance.
---------- Mr. Wong (Quarry Bay)
I loved very much the pieces chosen by your orchestra. Rossini's Serenata was an excellent prelude for the concert and offered each instrumentalist the chance to display his / her respective characteristics. Verdi's String Quartet demonstrated the competence of the string players. I enjoyed the Rota Quintet most of all. The sound of Matthew Wu's flute was sumptuous and well projected, and the harp sound was very elegant.
---------- Ms. Chan (Sha Tin)
Quintets are rarely heard, especially those with a harp in it. Tonight I was fortunate to have the opportunity to hear a piece by Rota written for a very special combination. The music had a film feel. Each instrumentalist sounded as if they were singing with each other. The rapport between the musicians was excellent - they were all breathing together with the music. This made the audience enjoy the experience too!
---------- Ms. Liu (Tai Po)
Superb! This was the first time I heard a chamber music performance. It was so charming. The frequent eye contact among the players made the audience experience the rapport among the musicians. This performance was so different from large-scale concerts. I have now fallen in love with chamber music and would like to thank Radio 4 for giving me this experience.
---------- Ms. Lau (Sha Tin)
All members of this orchestra are first-rate, well-known musicians who perform frequently. Their technique was fluent, their playing expressive. Their interpretation of music was charming, touching and of the highest standard. The audience could also feel the enthusiasm of the musicians and the music. We all shared a wonderful evening. The Rota quintet was especially lyrical and enjoyable.
---------- Ms. Chan (Tsz Wan Shan)
I enjoyed tonight's concert tremendously. The co-ordination and rapport among the orchestral players was excellent and the overall performance was elegant. This concert was also special in that the audience members could watch the performance at close range and, since there were only a few members performing, every part was clearly audible. Chamber music is truly the highest form of music.
---------- Mr. Ng (Sheung Wan)
