Director’s Notes
Dear Friends,
Our FORTE is in opening new doors - in enlightening our audiences with fresh new music selections, rising stars and intimate concert experiences. From the youthful innocence of "The Snowman" to the seductive world of Argentinian tango, we invite you to join us this season for music to chill, thrill and fill the mind!
To kick off the season we have Chicago-based Chinese violinist Yang Liu making his Hong Kong debut performing Mozart's violin concerto No. 3. Yang Liu will be performing on the "Lady Tennant" Stradivarius, the recording-breaking violin which was auctioned at Christie's in New York in April 2005 for a staggering US$2,032,000. In November we will be appearing at the University of Hong Kong's historic Loke Yew Hall for a special all-Mozart concert led by Lior Shambadal, conductor of the Berlin Symphony Orchestra. Later in the year we have some fabulous family events lined up for Christmas. Be sure not to miss our Christmas Eve concert at Hong Kong Park once again and a return performance of Howard Blake's "The Snowman & The Bear" narrated in English by Harry Wong and Jonathan Douglas, two of Hong Kong's top radio personalities. In January, Argentine Daniel Binelli, widely acclaimed as one of the world's greatest masters of the bandoneon, debuts in Hong Kong for an unforgettable evening of tango-inspired music by Piazzolla. To end the season in June the CCOHK will join the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong, the Italian Consulate General in Hong Kong, the Italian Trade Commission and the Istituto Nazionale Tostiano in Italy in presenting a fabulous concert paying homage to the music of Sir Francesco Paolo Tosti, the great Italian songwriter.
Do support the CCOHK by subscribing to all concerts this season and enjoy the benefits. For more details you can check our brochure on display at all arts venues in Hong Kong or by clicking here.
