Austrian pianist Gerda Struhal graduated from the Hogeschool voor de Kunsten in Utrecht and the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna where she studied with Hans Petermandl. She has performed throughout Europe, Asia and the USA in recital and as a soloist with the Bruckner Orchester Linz, the China National Symphony Orchestra, the Bilkent Symphony Orchestra, the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra of Bulgaria and the “Feuerhaus” Chamber Orchestra among others. Ms. Struhal is the recipient of numerous prizes including the “Gonda-Weiner” Prize and the “Wurdigunspreis” Prize awarded by the Austrian Ministry for Education, Science and Culture. She has appeared as a guest artist at the Carinthian Summer Festival in Austria, the International Chopin Festival at the Kartause Gaming and the Eskisehir Festival in Turkey. Ms. Struhal’s recording of solo piano works by Chopin and Scriabin on the Gramola label was awarded the “Pasticciopreis” Prize by the Austrian classical radio channel OE1 in 2003. In 2006 she will release another CD featuring the works by Schumann and Ravel.
