November 2006 - Issue No. 21

Director’s Notes

Dear Friends,

We are now well and truly into our 2006/2007 concert season. September saw us performing with Chinese violinist Yang Liu. It was a double debut of this fine artist together with the Lady Tennant Stradivarius. I was also delighted to learn after the performance that acquaintances of the Tennant family were in the audience! If you missed the concert you can listen to it online by clicking here. September also saw us performing for the Credit-Suisse 150th anniversary event at the HK Convention and Exhibition Centre with other guest artists such as Lang Lang and mezzo-soprano Carol Lin.

If you can only make it to one concert this year, then “Make it Mozart”. On 20th November we will be performing an all-Mozart programme in celebration of the great musical genius. The evening promises to be an exceptionally international one, featuring Austrian pianist Gerda Struhal, Canadian soprano Amelia Watkins and Israeli conductor Lior Shambadal. We are also looking forward to this concert since it will be our first appearance at the University of Hong Kong’s Loke Yew Hall. Hope to see you there!
