Matthew Hale, narrator/tenor
Matthew Hale was born in England and educated at the Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts in London and the London College of Music. He graduated from the Birmingham Conservatoire of Music in performance and holds a first-class honours degree in Music and Business. An accomplished performer of a number of musical styles, he has worked with many well-known conductors and directors, among them Stephen Barlow, Dominic Wheeler (English National Opera), Christian Curnyn (Early Opera Company), Alexander Ingram, Stephen Wilder (formerly Royal Opera House), Andrew Greenwood (Buxton Festival, Opera North) and Jeffrey Skidmore. He is a co-founder of the Arianna Consort which toured Germany to critical acclaim in 2004 and performed at the International Charpentier Conference in the same year. Matthew moved to Hong Kong in October 2005 to work with Bethan Greaves at Katterwall where he teaches singing and conducts the Kassia Youth Choir. He also performs as a member of the “Soho Collective” and recently sang Time To Say Goodbye to an audience of over 30,000 at the Closing Ceremony of the 2008 Hong Kong Rugby Sevens Tournament.
Matthew Hale was the featured singer / narrator in the CCOHK's highly successful Juanita The Spanish Lobster concert held in January this year. Having worked in the fields of Opera, Oratorio, Musical Theatre, Early Music, A cappella singing and pop Matthew is very excited to have the opportunity to develop his storytelling skills again in The Magic Jungle!
