Interview with Stephanie Bina, violinist of the CCOHK.
Where are you from and how long have you been in Hong Kong?
I am from Minneapolis, Minnesota in the USA and I have been living in Hong Kong for three years.
What do you enjoy most about playing in the CCOHK?
Our concerts have unique, fresh programmes and I find it exciting to play with different soloists from around the world. Also, during the CCOHK’s tour to Italy in 2007, I got to know all the orchestra members. I love making music with such nice people. It is enjoyable.
Which CCOHK guest artist has made the biggest impression on you?
Allen Vizzutti, the soloist in the "Sound the Trumpet" concert staged in October 2007. He was very approachable, played the trumpet effortlessly and performed with great showmanship.
Which CCOHK concert has been the most memorable for you?
The "Seasons Greetings in the Park" concert held on Christmas Eve in 2006, which had a most festive atmosphere. I enjoyed playing Vivaldi's "Four Seasons" and "Gloria". Since the performance was recorded by RTHK, my family and friends could view it on-line.
How did you come about choosing the violin?
When I was five, my older sister was already learning the violin. I remember begging my mother to let me learn the instrument.
Name one of the most important milestones in your music career.
An important milestone was preparing and giving my final recitals in college: one on violin and the other on piano.
What message do you have for our friends?
Thank you for coming to our concerts. The audiences are always so appreciative. Keep coming and bring your friends!
