Symphony No. 30 in C major, "Alleluja" |
"The renowned singer Joerg Waschinski is an exceptional phenomenon - not only because of his rare range of voice, but especially also because of his artistic competence, which has made him a most sought after opera and concert singer throughout Europe."
Joerg Waschinski's extraordinary vocal ability has led him to the presumably lost repertoire of the legendary Baroque castrati. Born in Berlin, he gained international recognition after becoming a prize-winner at the Johann Heinrich Schmelzer competition in Melk, Austria. In 1999 the renowned German opera magazine Opernwelt named him best young singer of the year and the Bonn Opera voted him as the best singer of their 2000/2001 season. Joerg Waschinski's performance with the CCOHK promises to delight with a rare selection of opera arias by Handel, Broschi and Porpora for castrati such as Farinelli and Senesino. The programme also includes chamber music by Handel and Haydn's joyous "Alelluja" Symphony.
